A 43-year-elderly person has passed on while in the authority of the Mile Seven Police in the Greater Accra Region, scarcely 24 hours after his arrest. The perished, Daniel Omari Aboagye, was being held by the police for supposedly swindling by misrepresentation. The Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, affirmed the episode and said Aboagye passed on around 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
She said Aboagye, who was arrested last Monday, reported sick a couple of hours after he was brought to the police station.
At 10:30 p.m.
Mrs Tenge stated, Aboagye was taken to the Police Hospital where he was treated released and sent back to the cell.
Notwithstanding, detainees in the police cell drew the attention of the police officer on duty to Aboagye's unmoving body and showed that he was not reacting to their calls.
The police went into the cell to deliver help however discovered Aboagye lethargic. In the interim, when his body was assessed there were no signs of attack found.
His body was subsequently taken out from the police cell and passed on to the Police Hospital where Aboagye was proclaimed dead.
Aboagye's corpse has since been kept in the police hospital mortuary
